# Choosing Your Companion
Step-by-step guide to selecting your AI trading personality.

## π― When You Choose
### During Signup (First Time)
After creating your account, you'll immediately be prompted to choose your companion.
### After Signup (Changing Companion)
You can change your companion anytime in Settings.

## π± How to Choose (First Time)
### Step 1: Complete Signup
1. Download Ape AI from App Store
2. Tap **Sign Up**
3. Enter email and password
4. Verify your email
5. Log in
### Step 2: Choose Your Companion Screen
You'll see companion cards (3β4 depending on your app version):
**Each card shows:**
* Companion name and emoji
* Trading style description
* Best for who
* Key focus
### Step 3: Read Each Option
**Swipe or scroll** to read each:
#### π° Money Monty (Generalist Trader)
* **Style:** Balanced fundamentals + technicals
* **Best for:** 2β5 trades/week, broad strategies
* **Focus:** Riskβaware, catalystβdriven ideas
#### π Blitz (Day Trader)
* **Style:** Fastβpaced, intraday moves (advanced)
* **Best for:** Experienced day traders, scalpers
* **Focus:** Technical setups, options plays
#### π Maverick (Momentum Trader)
* **Style:** Fast momentum plays, momentum
* **Best for:** Swing traders, part-timers
* **Focus:** Swing setups, entry/exit timing
#### π¦ Sage (Long-Term Investor)
* **Style:** Buy & hold, fundamentals
* **Best for:** Long-term investors, beginners
* **Focus:** Company quality, valuation
### Step 4: Tap Your Choice
**Tap the card** that matches your trading style.
### Step 5: Confirm
A confirmation screen may appear. Tap **Continue** or **Confirm**.
**That's it!** Your companion is active immediately.

## π How to Change Your Companion
Not happy with your choice? Switch anytime!
### Method 1: Via Profile (Main Way)

1. Tap **Profile icon** (top left of any screen)
2. Scroll to **"Choose Ape"** or **"Companion"** section
3. Tap to open companion selection
4. Select a different companion
5. Tap **Save** or **Confirm**
**Your AI adapts instantly!**

1. Tap **Profile icon** (top left)
2. Tap **Settings**
3. Find **"Choose Ape"** or **"Trading Companion"**
4. Select new companion
5. Confirm

**Q: Does changing companion affect my portfolio?** A: No! Your positions stay the same. Only the AI's suggestion style changes.
**Q: Can I use multiple companions?** A: One at a time, but you can switch based on what you're working on.
**Q: Which companion do most users choose?** A: Beginners: Sage. Partβtime/balanced traders: Money. Active momentum traders: Maverick. Blitz is best for experienced day traders.
**Q: Does it cost extra to switch?** A: No! All companions are included in your subscription.
**Q: Will my companion choice be remembered?** A: Yes! It stays active until you manually change it.

**For now on Web:** You'll get a general AI experience. Your iOS companion selection may influence web responses if you're logged in on both.
